Description:
The thermoelectric cooler also is known as TEC or Peltier cooler, is an active semiconductor part, which enables to give off heat on one side and get the heat on another side, results in differential temperature on its sides, means one side is cooler and another side is hotter than ambient. In other words, a Peltier cooler/heater is an active heat pump, which consumes electric power to transfer heat energy from one side to another side. Therefore, it can be used for warming or cooling something or even simultaneously warming a thing and cooling another thing. This TEC is supplied with 12V and 10A current. It should be used with a heatsink to prevent burning due to overhot. Also for better heat-conducting, thermal paste using is recommended.
Thermoelectric generators could be used in power plants to convert waste heat into additional electrical power and in automobiles as automotive thermoelectric generators (ATGs) to increase fuel efficiency. Another application is radioisotope thermoelectric generators which are used in space probes, which have the same mechanism but use radioisotopes to generate the required heat difference.
Thermoelectric generators are all-solid-state devices that do not require any fluids for fuel or cooling, making them non-orientation dependent allowing for use in zero-gravity or deep-sea applications.
